Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that affects the development of the brain, and is marked by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication and repetitive patterns of behaviour or interests.
It has been found that 40-80% of children diagnosed with ASD experience problems with sleep.
Presented by Enhanced Living Director and Exercise Physiologist, David Nunn, and Enhanced Living Physiotherapist, Stephanie Militante, our information session will focus on children and young adults living with ASD and the high occurrence of sleep issues that accompany a diagnosis of ASD.
Our discussion will also touch on the role of physical activity and exercise as a potential new approach to addressing sleep issues, and as a means to enhance the overall quality of life for children and young adults living with ASD.
Stephanie will also outline and invite attendees to participate in her current research project studying how exercise affects sleep quality and overall quality of life in children diagnosed with ASD.
Light refreshments will be available.
