THE SUNSHINE COAST

The Sunshine Coast is a Queensland city located on 100km north of Brisbane. With a population over 350,000, the city is the 3rd most populous place in Queensland after Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It is also the 9th most populous city in Australia. The Sunshine Coast is very popular for tourists, attracting more than 3.2 million visitors a year.

Included in the catchment region for our unique facility is the Noosa district, an additional population of 45,000.

The Sunshine Coast is a region that has greater health and wellbeing awareness compared to other regions of Australia. The Coast has the most yoga, meditation, organic stores and juice cleanse bars than any other region in the country per capita and more people per capita engage in active recreational pursuits.

Within this health awareness, there are still community groups that experience reduced life expectancy, reduced accessibility to programs that initiate health change and clients requiring complex care often have to travel to Brisbane or the Gold Coast to engage the skills, equipment and experience required for complex neurological conditions including spinal cord injuries.

Using averages from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, persons with the need for assistance with core activities numbers 5.7% of the population (22,000). Of these approximate 22,000, 4.4% of people with disabilities in Australia use a wheelchair, which extrapolates to ~960 for the Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions.

As registered providers within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Enhanced Living has been providing quality services since 2017 for out of region NDIS participants and more recently locals of the Sunshine Coast. We deliver services to many subgroups, the largest being Psychosocial Disabilities.
