Hydrotherapy FAQs
What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is one of the many forms of treatment we provide here at Enhanced Living. We use the heated pool on-site to harness the thermal properties and buoyancy of water to enhance the therapy we provide. The increased pressure of the water, as well as the anti-gravity properties, help to reduce the stress on the joints, reduce the load on the body and reduce the risk of falls. The warmth of the water helps to relax muscles and improve the movement and mobility of the joints.
Hydrotherapy may appear to be nothing more than swimming in a warm pool, but it has a long list of scientifically proven benefits! The water resistance can be used for strength training without the loading on the joints. We use the effects of the warm water to help reduce muscle spasms, stiffness, and spasticity meaning everyday activities will become easier. We also use hydrotherapy as a technique for retraining the ability to walk, improving balance and postural awareness in a safe and comforting environment
A wide range of different conditions can benefit from incorporating hydrotherapy including musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, stroke rehabilitation, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injuries and even falls prevent training for a variety of ages.
Yes. They can be reached from either the rear of the hydrotherapy pool or the back parking. Simply ask one of our helpful team for the key.
The hydrotherapy pool is accessible via the clinic’s main entrance or the back parking area. For safety concerns, every client in the clinic must be hoisted into the pool, regardless of skill. Our friendly team has received extensive training in the use of the hoist machine, so you can be certain that they are experts at what they do.
