Karly Pollard – Exercise Physiologist
I am Karly Pollard, an Exercise Physiologist with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science degree. My expertise lies in the musculoskeletal field, focusing on long-term rehabilitation following injuries, including return to work programs and pre/post-surgery care. Additionally, I have a keen interest in chronic pain management, where I provide education and utilize the biopsychosocial model to develop personalized treatment plans. I am also experienced in the cardiac domain, conducting submaximal exercise tests and prescribing evidence-based exercise programs to help clients reach their goals.
Outside of work, exercise and physiology continue to be an integral part of my life. I regularly engage in strength training to maintain my own physical fitness, and I am currently training to improve my long-distance running abilities. This personal dedication allows me to understand the challenges and rewards of exercise on a deeper level, enhancing my ability to connect with clients.
As an Exercise Physiologist, my next step is to continue broadening my knowledge and gaining experience working with different types of clientele, particularly those under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). I strive to provide the best possible care and support to individuals, focusing on their unique needs and goals.
I take the time to understand each person on an individual level, incorporating their social, emotional, and behavioral factors into their treatment journey. Patience, continuous learning, and a passion for improving as an Exercise Physiologist are the cornerstones of my approach. I aim to deliver evidence-based exercise sessions that are both effective and enjoyable.
While online coaching has its merits, I believe that in-person service delivery offers distinct advantages. The ability to use body language and create a comfortable environment facilitates better client engagement and connection. Being physically present allows me to demonstrate and correct exercise techniques more effectively, ensuring proper form and reducing the risk of injury. In addition, the gym environment provides access to a wide range of equipment and ample space, enhancing the overall experience for clients.
In summary, as an Exercise Physiologist, I strongly believe in the power of exercise as a tool to enhance lives. I am dedicated to utilizing exercise as a form of treatment, prevention, and overall well-being. My focus on evidence-based practice, building rapport, and creating enjoyable exercise sessions sets me apart. If you’re seeking personalized, effective, and engaging exercise interventions, I am here to support you on your journey to improved health and well-being.
Outside of the clinic, Lindsay enjoys all aspects of health and fitness and you can usually find her playing team sports or enjoying the coastal landscape.
